Form Molde harbour you enter directly into the center of Molde where you easily may walk to the attractions of the town
On foot in Molde
Molde - also called City of Roses. This is a 100 year old saying founded on the city's many thriving and lush rose gardens. The famous Molde panorama with its 222 mountain peaks is also a beautiful sight you should not miss on a trip to Romsdal capital.
The city is also known for its large international Jazz Festival which takes place every June, dating back to 1961.
You can take a nice walk in the center of Molde and if you like hiking, you may walk up to Varden which is an hour walk on the nature trail from the center.
Grab a map from one of the city hotel, as are the trip under the map.
Starting from the square in Molde, then walk up to Molde Cathedral. The church was opened in 1957 and is a double-nave long church in the Gothic style. In summertim you may see the beayutiful roses and other flowers on the roof of city hall. The walk then continues via Vektergata over to the Culture Square and up Gørvelalleen to the Romsdalsmuseet. Here it is a little climb, but nice paved road.
Outdoor museum of Romsdalsmuseet consists of a collection of several old , traditional buildings with about 35 houses. The houses show the area of Romsdalen building traditions and way of life from 1600-1900's.
The new and magnificent building to Romsdalsmuseet named Krona and is an indoor musuem containing both permanent exhibits and shows the living conditions in the region through different time, and also several temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The museum has a cafe, a museum shop and library and Krona is open year round.
The tournow continue up to Varden, a viewpoint where one can sight the famous Molde panorama with its partially snow-clad peaks. In summer you can also drive up here, it takes 10 min.
If you choose to return to center after visiting Romsdalsmuseet, the tour continues down Reknes Park to Chateauet with its fine garden. Down Sandvegen, the walk goes around Scandic Seilet Hotel and Aker fottball stadium, and the boardwalk back to the center and market square in Molde.
