In peaceful surroundings lies Gjøra Camping,located near Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park and the impressive waterfalls of Åmotan
Gjøra Camping is situated between Sunndalsøra and Oppdal, just 1 km from National Road 70. It’s an excellent base for anyone who enjoys activities in spectacular nature. There are endless hiking opportunities at the gateway to the national parks, including the popular Ekkertinden. The area also offers fishing in rivers and mountain lakes, as well as traditional summer farms.
The Land of Waterfalls
Sunndal is known as the land of waterfalls, with over 70 small and large falls. Gjøra is a perfect starting point to experience the roar of Åmotan, sometimes called the “Niagara of the North.” Here, rivers from six valleys meet, and three of them plunge to form a spectacular waterfall in Åmotan. The area is well organized with marked trails. Åmotan can be explored up close via marked hiking paths from Jenstad, or from a viewpoint along the road between Gjøra and Grødalen.
The Campsite
Gjøra Camping has seven cabins of various sizes and facilities. In addition, there are spaces for tents, caravans, and motorhomes. Bed linens and towels are available for rent.
