The most spectacular hike to see the great Troll Wall from the top! Hike to Store Trolltind is a long and demanding trip for those who are in a good shape.
This is the best way to experience the Troll Wall and the surrounding mountain areas. A spectacular view is waiting on the top, but along the way you will get glimpse of what waiting. Some technical areas where you need to move around exposed areas with vertical drops, and scramble your way towards the summit. Therefor this is not the hike for beginners or those who are afraid of heights, but perfect for those who are in good shape and like to move around in exposed mountain areas.
We start the hike from top of the Troll Road, at the plateau. From here we hike to the backside of the famous The Troll Wall, which is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe. About 1,100 meters (3,600 ft) from it`s base to the summit of it`s highest point! The first half is easier and a good warm up, before we start on the challenging part, where escpesially the last 1/4 is more technical and interesting while sometimes are balancing on thin ledges and looking down the Troll Wall. Reaching top, 1788 m.o.s.l, we are rewarded with the most spectacular view! Mountains, fjords, valleys as far as we can see, and in the fare west we can see the big Atlantic Ocean.
