Hiking to Benken på Skardsøya i Aure

The hike suits both a leisurely Sunday walk for children aswell as a hike for excercise with a good ascent. At the Bench, there are facilities for lighting a fire and activities for children. The Bench is set up as a lookout point towards Trondheimsleia, offering extensive views on a short hike. At dusk, you can watch the beautiful sunset. The site is equipped with a shelter.

To get to the Bench, drive down Brekkvegen and turn towards Skardsøya. Follow Skardsøyvegen across the bridge, turn left onto Lesundvegen and take the first right. Parking is available 50 meters from the main road. From the parking lot, there is a trail to the right. This path is a bit steep, but well-maintained and suitable for most people. Follow the path up to a crossroads, then turn left. It is well marked. From the crossroads, the trail continues over a marsh, well maintained with planks and bridges over the wet areas.

Once you arrive, there's a shelter with barbecue and activities for children. The path from the parking lot is somewhat steep but well-established. It is about 119 vertical meters to the top, and the hike takes about 45 minutes from the parking lot. The Bench is situated 156 meters above sea level.

The trail is accessible all seasons but is best when there is no snow.
