The idyllic island of Hjertøya is a great recreational area where you can fish, go on a picnic, walk along guided paths or swim in the sea.
The boat to Hjertøya island goes from the Reknemoloen by the Molde marina (Molde guest harbor). Reknesmoloen is located in the west end of the main street (Storgata) in Molde. Just east of the football stadium (Aker stadium) and south of Hotell Molde Fjordstuer.
At the Fisheries Museum you can get an insight into local coastal culture, and you can buy tickets for a guided tour at Hjertøya. The museum is made as a small fishing village with houses, fishermen’s shacks, cod-liver oil factory, engineering workshop and a large collection of boats. It portrays local coastal culture, working life and living conditions from around 1850. Free exhibition of the multi artist Kurt Schwitters and “Die große Merz” pillar on the Hjertøy square. The ticket can be used on the departure time you prefer, return ticket. Be aware that on very nice sunny days, there can be many people wanting to go by the boat to Hjertøya. Please be patient, and wait for the boat to bring you over to Hjertøya island. The crossing time is about 10 minutes, and the boat goes in shuttle if there are more guests on the pier. On these days, the departure times will not follow the scheduled time table. Last return from Hjertøya at 17:15.
