Kråksundet maritime museum

Experience Northern Møre's fishing history and coastal culture in an authentic boathouse setting in Aure. In Kråksundet on Aure, just outside Kristiansund, there is a long tradition of various types of coastal fishing.
It was also here that land-based herring fishing with fixed casting sites took place. The first "modern" clipfish production in Norway started here. In 1691, the Dutchman Jappe Ippes received royal approval and the exclusive right to begin this method of production.
During the summer season, the museum area is very active with museum days, veteran boat gatherings, and other events. If you arrive by boat, Kråksundet is a good anchorage spot in calm waters.
Free admission to the museum.
