The Queen's Route to Dronninga

Perched faithfully on the northern side of Mount Kongen at an altitude of 1,544 meters, stands Dronninga. Offering the longest, steepest, and most challenging hike in the Kingdom of Romsdal.

The Queen's Route to Dronninga is both longer, steeper, and more demanding than the route to its husband, Kongen. The Queen's Crown on the top of the mountain can be reached from both Trollstigen via Kongen and from the opposite side of the mountain, from Vikdalen in Innfjorden. Both routes challenge you in steep and demanding terrain. Fortunately, together with the guide, qualified choices are made, and he or she ensures that you are safe throughout the trip.

Guided tours in 2024

On Wednesdays: August 7th, 14th, and 21st at 7:15 AM

The trip can also be booked on request.

What is your tipping point?

At the top of Dronninga, you walk over a long ridge with small pinnacles and at the highest point you look straight towards Kongen. If you have made it all the way here, you might dare to take the route via Vippesteinen - a characteristic boulder that balances on the first top of Dronninga. Once ascended, you are guaranteed a grand and impressive memory for this year's photo album.

With a guide in the Kingdom of Romsdal

The characteristic landscape of Romsdalen makes every hike a memorable experience, but also a challenge that should not be underestimated. The landscape is spectacular, with airy peaks and exposed routes that require the use of ropes.

Romsdal's certified mountain guides (IFMGA) give you a safe journey through the Queen's Route to Dronninga. The guides are experts in mountains and mountaineering and give the tours in the Kingdom an extra dimension by conveying history, geology, botany and knowledge of nature.
