In connection with Stavanger 2025, the launch of both the audio work and the first sculpture in the Samson series will be celebrated at Utstein monastery. The artwork, created by Anna Ihle, is inspired by Stavanger Cathedral and consists of a series of conversations in audio format and a series of sculptures.

In February and March, five group discussions were organised on various themes related to the cathedral, including the altar, the pulpit, the crypt, an epitaph and the long table. Participants included school students, writers, a restoration technician, a social worker, an oil worker, a yogi, a deputy mayor and a retired magistrate. The conversations explored how these objects are perceived today and how they can be linked to biblical texts.

The sound work is composed of recordings from these conversations, accompanied by music composed by Kirsten Bråten Berg and Jens Borge. The sculptures, made of transparent soap and wood, are inspired by both the conversations and the associated objects. During 2025, the sculptures will be exhibited in several locations, with the first presentation taking place at Utstein Monastery.

During the opening, Anna Ihle will share insights into her work with Samson, while Kirsten Bråten Berg and Jens Borge will perform the accompanying music with song and double bass.
