All Tomorrow's Parties
A tribute to lost dancers: exploring how HIV/AIDS shaped Norwegian dance with a fictional performance of what never took place.
Get tickets hereAll Tomorrow's Parties is a dance performance exploring how HIV and AIDS impacted Norwegian dance in the 1980s and '90s. Several Norwegian dancers contracted the virus, lived with HIV, and died of AIDS. But who were they? How did they dance? And most importantly – what would they have danced if they hadn't been lost?
With All Tomorrow's Parties, the artists aim to map out the void left by these individuals and fill it by staging dances that never took place – a fictional enactment of dances that were never danced.
The performance is followed by a discussion with Matthias Danbolt (Professor of Art History, University of Copenhagen), Ingvil Hellstrand (Professor of Interdisciplinary Gender Studies, University of Stavanger), and artists involved in the project.
This showing of All Tomorrow's Parties marks the conclusion of Brynjar Åbel Bandlien's three-year research project titled All Tomorrow’s Parties: Post-pandemic dancing, supported by HK-Dir’s programme for artistic development.
