‘The archaeologists will begin with an introduction to archaeology, its methods and periods, before talking about individual archaeological sites at Brusand, Ogna and Sirevåg. Then Astrid Nylund will talk about Slettabø and Kristoffer Hillesland about Hølland bridge.’

‘The settlement at Slettabø was excavated in the mid-1960s by Arne Skjølsvold, but is still central to the debate about when and how agriculture arrived and was received in Norway. What was found and why the site is so important will be presented in the lecture.’

‘In 2023, a presumed production site for Roman and Migration Age pottery was excavated at Ogna. Very few such pottery workshops have been found in Norway from this period. The excavation has therefore reopened the debate about how and where pottery was produced. What was uncovered, and why the site is so important, will be presented in the lecture.’

The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
