Still with a calendar full of gigs and studio time on both his own and others’ projects, tonight’s tight supergroup has been a band for seven years. Andersen has gathered his absolute favourite musicians from the younger generation:

Marius Neset has had a meteoric rise both as a saxophonist and composer, whether in his own bands or with works for major ensembles such as the London Sinfonietta, Bergen Philharmonic, and KORK. His unique playing style can quickly shift from dense and rhythmically complex to soft and deeply beautiful.

Helge Lien’s delicate piano playing, inspired by Bill Evans’ lyricism, Keith Jarrett’s inventiveness, and Brad Mehldau’s subtle expression, has earned him international acclaim. He recently took part in the EST Symphony project and has released ten albums with his own trio.

Håkon Mjåset Johansen is one of the most sought-after drummers in the country, known for his strikingly energetic playing in bands like Come Shine, Urban Connection, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, IPA, and Motif.

This group has nearly 100 concerts under their belt, both in Norway and abroad, carrying the jazz tradition with them while injecting it with fresh energy along the way. It’s acoustic, warm and intimate, tightly played and smiling, lyrical but with a volcanic eruption waiting just beneath the surface.
