Brillejesus + I do You do Karate = Indie-West Coast united!

Brillejesus is finally back on the Stavanger stage! With several albums and EPs under their belt, it's during their live shows that the swinging intensity at the heart of Brillejesus’ music truly comes to life.

The Stavanger-based band has been together since 2018 and delivered hits like "Bompenger, bompenger", "Nytt band fra Bergen", and "Dette er bare en hobby". Last year they only played two concerts – at Egersund Visefestival and in Bryne – and now they’re thrilled to finally play in their hometown again.

Musically, Brillejesus draws inspiration from American slacker bands like Pavement and Guided By Voices, as well as old-school punk à la The Clash and The Ramones. This time, they’re bringing a bunch of fan favourites (and new material!) to Folken – a treat for old and new disciples alike.

This Bergen-based quintet serves up catchy melodies and a solid dose of energy. They've released three records on Australian label Half A Cow Records, which has been delivering indiepop since 1990. The albums have been well received – Janglepophub writes:
“I do You do Karate may well be the best of the current crop of power-pop acts. You decide?”

In August, I do You do Karate comes to Stavanger and Folken together with local heroes Brillejesus.
