Using a kit, participants assemble a small, functional, and beautiful organ instrument with pipes, bellows, and keys. In doing so, they discover how sound is produced through mechanical motion. The workshop also includes a tour inside the grand concert hall organ — among its 4,554 pipes!
It begins with a short performance by dancer Cesilie Kverneland and organist Daniel Opdal, titled “The Astonishing Organ Organism”. Could an organ resemble a human body — with a wooden skeleton, bellows for lungs, and pipes as vocal cords?
Cesilie Kverneland has over 20 years’ experience as a dancer and choreographer, educated in Stavanger, New York, Los Angeles and London. She has taken part in numerous stage productions internationally.
Daniel Opdal is studying church music at the University of Stavanger and is recognised as a major talent. He is already an active performer.
In collaboration with Norsk Orgelfestival. Duration: up to 90 minutes.
Organised by Stavanger Concert Hall IKS and Norsk Orgelfestival
