For decades, we've celebrated the evolution of country music, from its early days in Nashville, Tennessee, to its later roots in Austin, Texas. Nashville has long been known as the heart of country music, with legendary artists performing the traditional Nashville Sound at The Grand Ole Opry. But in the 1970s, a group of artists began to challenge the established sound and wanted to play music on their own terms, without following the restrictions of producers. At the forefront of this movement were Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and others, who together became known as Outlaw Country.

The Outlaw musicians wanted to revive what was called ‘Honky Tonk’ - a raw, unfiltered form of country that was far removed from the commercialised sound of Nashville. Their desire for musical freedom led to a new direction for the genre, and the Outlaw Movement was born. This group of artists, including Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Tom Paul Glaser, started a movement that would influence the entire evolution of country music. The group The Outlaws, which included these legends, sold more than one million records with the album Wanted released on their own label.

Today, country music continues to evolve, both in the US and internationally. In Norway and Europe, the music has gained greater cultural acceptance. Now the artists G. Thomas and Hawk Christensen want to tell the story of Outlaw Country in their concert project ‘From Hank to Waylon’, where they take the audience on a journey from Hank's traditional country to Waylon's rebellious Outlaw sound.
