A newly divorced man digs in his garden and finds a staircase. To hell.

He has a lot of time on even-numbered weeks, and one day he decides to tackle the garden patch with the slightly rusty shovel in his shed. No sooner has he started digging than he comes across a trapdoor that turns out to lead straight to hell.

Helvete is a comical, strange and absurd show about how a man suddenly falls in love with Satan himself. How can two people from different worlds love each other, and how will they manage to maintain their relationship?

The novel was published in 2019 by Erlend Loe and was immediately well received by the Norwegian public. Now, for the first time, it will be turned into a theatre production. This will be a performance out of the ordinary.

Join us on a journey into the heart of darkness.

Mathias Hansen is a recent graduate of the theatre academy in Verdal. In the autumn of 2024, he premiered Erlend Loe's Helvete. The production was a success and now the plan is to take the show on tour. His team includes recent graduates Lone Grønner Flikke and Elan Geelmuyden as directors, and Sander Jordbakke as assistant director. In addition, the script was written by Mathias Hansen and Elan Geelmuyden. The project, which began as a 15-minute monologue show in the winter of 2024, has now come full circle to the big stage.

The performance will have a duration of approximately one hour.

The show will be performed in Norwegian
