If the City Shines
What is belonging? What makes a place a home? What does a city's soul look like – seen from the inside? And what is it, really, that makes a city shine?
Following the success of Cassandra, Mattis Herman Nyquist and Fredrik Høyer return to Rogaland Teater with a new stage production – freely inspired by encounters with the people of Stavanger. Through two years of research, conversations, and interviews, they have gathered impressions from the city and created a poetic interpretation of place, belonging and identity: a free, dramatic exploration of the city’s people, rhythms and stories.
The result is a sensuous portrait of Stavanger – a production that seeks to look beyond the old narratives we tell about ourselves, and instead asks: What do we have in common? What separates us? What truly forms a city’s identity? And when does a place become more than just buildings, cobblestones and factories?
A strong ensemble with roots in the city and the region will be met on the stage:
Malene Wadel, Malin Landa, Marianne Holter, Torbjørn Berglund Eriksen, Penda Faal, Amund Harboe, and Kaleb Isaac “Isah” Ghebreiesus, making his stage debut.
