I Was A King – 20th Anniversary Celebration

I Was A King celebrates 20 years with a compilation album and live concerts at selected venues.

"Best Wishes – A Shortcut to I Was A King" marks a special milestone for the Southwest Norwegian band, one of the country’s leading representatives of the increasingly endangered DIY/underground pop scene.

The compilation album, releasing on 7 March, offers a retrospective of the band’s music from 2005 to 2024. They remain steadfast in their belief in great melodies, proudly embracing their musical kinship with The Byrds, Big Star, and Teenage Fanclub—not as a secret, but as a great strength.

With multiple Spellemann nominations and chart placements, the band has received critical acclaim both in Norway and internationally. In their relentless pursuit of perfect pop and sonic bliss, they have collaborated with renowned artists such as Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Sufjan Stevens, Robyn Hitchcock, and Bill Rieflin (R.E.M., King Crimson).
