War and Conflict in the Middle East: With the Bible as Backdrop

What role do the Bible and religious texts play in the conflicts of the Middle East? What significance do faith and doubt hold in this context? Is religion merely a symbolic stand-in for politics, or is it actually driving political agendas?

In this lecture, historian Eirik Kvindesland explores well-known biblical texts and explains how they are used—and misused—in some of the Middle East’s most complex and heated conflicts.

This event is part of Kapittel – Stavanger International Festival for Literature and Freedom of Expression, 17–21 September 2025.
