Lyder sounds just like jazz should!
The Lyder Røed Quintet released the album Upside Down on Jazzland last autumn. The band was formed by Lyder after having played with each member in various settings over several years. These musicians are among his absolute favourites, creating a perfect combination for the music they perform. The members are known for their work with Fieh, Tigerstate, Philip Granly Trio, General Post Office, and Gabriella Garrubo.
The new music of the Lyder Røed Quintet is genuine and heartfelt, inspired by artists such as Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Nat Adderley, and much of the jazz from the 1960s—not to mention the more recent influence of Roy Hargrove. Since their first album, the music has evolved, moving more towards the American jazz tradition while still keeping a foothold—or at least a couple of toes—in the Norwegian jazz landscape.
