It never became a rock opera, but the double album "The 30 Years War" released by Ketil Bjørnstad and the Stavanger ensemble together in 1981 became legendary. Now Bjørnstad and Rønli have been persuaded to make a concert version, which will premiere in Zetlitz during Maijazz 2020. You will not miss this!
The "30 Years War" was released in October 1981. The project was intended to become a rock opera. It was about being born in the 1950s, growing up in the 1960s and becoming an adult in the 1970s. The album was a collaboration between Ketil Bjørnstad (text and music) and the Stavanger ensemble with Anders Bru, Frode Rønli, Øystein Eldøy and Knut Køningsberg, at that time Norway's hottest band. Frode "Froddien" Rønli was also a strong contributor to ideas for Bjørnstad's texts.
The result was a legendary double album. The rock opera never came to fruition. But now central people in Stavanger have persuaded both Ketil Bjørnstad and Frode Rønli to - for the first time - create a concert version of the 30-year war. And the premiere will be at Maijazz!
