Mai:Jazz 2025 presents Nubiyan Twist

What an electrifying band! Nubiyan Twist is a nine-piece British group formed in 2011 at Leeds College of Music. Today, they are one of the most exciting bands on the new British jazz scene. Known for their eclectic fusion of genres, they seamlessly blend jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat, Latin, soul, reggae, and dance music.

Led by guitarist and producer Tom Excell, with Aziza Jaye as the lead vocalist, their latest album, Find Your Flame (2024), showcases their ability to weave together global rhythms, soul, and jazz with electronic elements, brass-led melodies, and spontaneous improvisation.

Nubiyan Twist has performed at prestigious festivals, including the legendary Glastonbury. Their powerful live performances, musical precision, and infectious grooves have earned them a dedicated following.
