Obstfelder Days: Friday
Join Obstfelder Days on 20 November in Stavanger. Two days of poetry from Norway's top poets.
Get tickets hereObstfelderdagene is Stavanger's new poetry festival, which, after two ‘preludes’ on different stages, is finally coming to the Literature House. There will be two days of poetry from some of the country's best and most exciting poets, added to the days around the late Obstfelder's birthday.
This year's guests range from canonical veterans to young rising stars. Cecilie Løveid (b. 1951), one of Norway's most celebrated authors, especially for her poems and plays, will soon be releasing her new poetry collection Piggeple and will give the Stavanger audience a taste of it.
The not particularly well-travelled poet Helene Torvund (b. 1987) will read from her critically acclaimed collection Gust.
Another of this year's poetic rising stars is the phenomenon Joakim Kjørsvik (b. 1978), who has received rave reviews for his År og dag – haiku, which was published earlier this year. In addition, he has translated Sharon Olds' Oder, which was presented this spring during Dødens pubertet (Death's Puberty) at the House of Literature by Gunnhild Øyehaug.
Don't miss the programme on Thursday 20 November 2025!
It's going to be lyrical, folks!
