Oliver Hohlbrugger at Martinique – Saturday 8 March

Oliver Hohlbrugger’s critically acclaimed album Nothing’s Changed, Everything Is New was released in April and celebrated with a sold-out solo show at Martinique.

For this return concert at Martinique, Hohlbrugger will be joined by string musicians:

  • Renate Engevold – violin

  • Benedicte Årsland – cello

Nothing’s Changed, Everything Is New draws on a range of styles and musical eras, blending jazz, post-rock, new wave, and avant-garde. Wrapped in dreamy nostalgia echoing the ’70s and ’80s, with Bowie-esque angles and moments of experimentation—yet always melodic—the album feels both familiar and sharply modern. It was recorded in a deserted manor house in Jæren, Elektrolüd in Stavanger, and Brooklyn, New York, and evokes a cinematic night drive through glowing intersections, shadowy backstreets, and empty neon-lit roads in search of an off-ramp.

Praise for the album:

“A mash-up of Coltrane, Brel, Floyd and Tindersticks.” – MOJO
“A gothic mass of Nick Cave proportions.” – Øyvind Rønning
“What a happening of an album!” – Beatblogger (5/6)
“Channelling his inner Bowie.” – Aftenbladet (5/6)
“A total work of art.” – Lost and Found
“Fantastic songwriting.” – Westzeit (5/6)
