On the wings of song through Baroque Europe
Stavanger Barokk presents a programme featuring favourites from the era that changed the entire vocal genre in classical music.
Get tickets hereThere will be Mad Songs from England, elegant Air de cours and chansons from the French court, and not least expressive songs in various forms from Italy. The quality of the lyrics used in the music and the rhythm of the text in the singing voice were particularly important in the early Baroque period. The communication of the text was more central at the beginning of the 17th century than in the mid-1750s, when virtuoso divas later came to shine with coloratura layered over relatively few words.
Cast: Elin Aase (vocals), Henrikke Gjermundsen Rynning (viola da gamba) and Erik Skanke Høsøien (lute).
The concert is supported by the Norwegian Cultural Council and Rogaland County Council.
