The Museum of Archaeology has been a key player in the restoration of Stavanger Cathedral since 2016. Through several years of extensive work, archaeologists, researchers and conservators have gathered valuable insights into the cathedral's history, architecture and changes over time.  

For the anniversary in 2025, the Museum of Archaeology is planning a special anniversary exhibition, where they will gather and present the knowledge uncovered during the restoration project. The exhibition will give visitors a unique insight into the cathedral's past, through archaeological finds, analyses of building materials and new perspectives on the church's role in the city's development.  

Through interactive elements, historical artefacts and visual displays, the exhibition will provide a deeper understanding of how Stavanger Cathedral has changed over the centuries and what significance it has had for the city's inhabitants. This will be a rare opportunity to see the cathedral's history with new eyes and experience how research and restoration have given us new knowledge about one of Norway's most important medieval buildings.
