Dance performance at Sandnes kulturhus with Núria Guiu / Ingri Fiksdal.
Get tickets hereSupermedium explores how the body is haunted by ghosts from the past, present and future. Here, the ghost is understood both as a metaphor for how different movement histories and physical memes manifest themselves in the body, but also concretely through the dancers attempting to channel actual ghosts or spirits. In Western modernity, human understanding has been based on a separation between man and nature, but also on a de-mystification of the world, where ghosts and spirits no longer have a place. In recent years, however, the posthumanist perspective has sought to reintroduce the superhuman and reunite man as someone who is always already in relationship. However, this interweaving often favours the natural world, where beings such as bacteria and fungi influence humans and vice versa. There is, however, a greater reluctance to include the supernatural and what lies beyond the material and visible as superhuman agents. Supermedium seeks to negotiate between the universes of the visible and invisible, of materiality and volatility, spirit and flesh to question the tripartite role of the body as both natural, cultural and conduit for the supernatural.
