Restauration Crossing 200 - From Egersund to New York
Marking 200 years since Restauration sailed to America. Celebrated in Egersund and Stavanger, 3-4 July, before the ship sails on to New York.
Restauration Crossing 200, starts in Stavanger on 3–4 July.
The Egersund ship Restauration, owned by the Bowitz family in Egersund, was the first ship to start the emigration to America. The ship brought hope and a future for those who left for America.
The programme for the day is:
- Amanda af Egersund will dock to receive gifts from Egersund, which will sail to New York on 4 July.
- The mayor will present:
- Egersund's pennant
- Varberg Whisky as an anchor dram
- Letter to America to the Iversen family.
- Speech
- Boat parade: Rescue boat, Amanda af Egersund and small boats from Egersund
Small boat owners are encouraged to join the first part of the voyage from Egersund to Stavanger – New York.
When the gifts arrive in Stavanger, Mayor Anja will receive them and present them to the captain of the Restauration (3 July), before the gifts from Egersund set sail for New York.
Restauration will arrive in New York on 9 October. There will be a grand reception, where the Crown Prince and Princess will be waiting for Restauration.
