The English Patient a romantic and epic 9x Oscar-winning drama.

A plane is shot down over the desert. The badly injured pilot is rescued by Bedouins, before being cared for by nurse Hana at a remote monastery in Tuscany. The mysterious patient is dying. He claims to have lost his memory and can't even remember his name, but through a series of flashbacks we unravel his identity and dramatic love life. 

Anthony Minghella's film adaptation of Michael Ondaatje's novel was one of the great successes of the 1990s, winning a number of awards, including the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1996.
