This evening we will hear the horn concerto by this year's composer in residence, as well as Bruckner's Ninth Symphony.

The concert opens with Jörg Widmann's Horn Concerto, an exciting work by this season's composer in residence. This is followed by Bruckner's Ninth Symphony - the Unfinished - a magnificent and emotional masterpiece, and the composer's musical farewell to life. He dedicated it to God. Bruckner died in Vienna without completing the work, which was premiered in 1903.
