James Horner’s (1953–2015) music has done just that – in cinemas, in living rooms, and in concert halls. From the sweeping scores of Braveheart and Avatar to the intense moments in Aliens and Titanic, his compositions masterfully enhance storytelling and evoke deep emotions.
With ten Oscar nominations and two wins for the iconic Titanic score, James Horner was one of Hollywood’s most influential film composers – right up to his tragic death exactly ten years ago. This concert presents unforgettable music from some of his most beloved works, including Titanic, Braveheart, Aliens, Avatar, The Rocketeer, and more.
The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra has a unique connection to Horner. In the spring of 2015, just one month before his death, Horner himself conducted his music in Fartein Valen Hall. Now, a decade later, we return to his notes. Together with conductor Torodd Wigum, we invite you to an evening celebrating one of the great voices in film history.
Welcome back to the universe of James Horner!
