The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra opens with Johan Svendsen’s colourful Carnival in Paris, followed by violinist Johan Dalene shining in Tchaikovsky’s deeply moving Violin Concerto. The evening ends by looking to the stars with Strauss’ powerful Also sprach Zarathustra – a grand piece known for its iconic opening, which you’ve almost certainly heard before.
