Get into the music: welcome to a free programme guide with Ilmari Hopkins in the VIP room on the 5th floor at 6:30 p.m. Florence Price's beautiful Andante Moderato opens the concert, followed by Miklós Rózsa's dramatic concerto for viola, performed by Lawrence Power. Jean Sibelius' majestic and moving Second Symphony is one of his most popular and beloved works. Written in 1902 during a period marked by both national pride and personal challenges for the composer, the symphony is filled with strong emotions, beautiful melodies and powerful expression. It has been interpreted as a musical tribute to Nordic nature.
