On Saturday 7 June, Vågen will be filled with boats and the concert amphitheatre with 16 small dishes when Engøyholmen Kystkultursenter recreates the National Regatta of 1868.

The National Regatta of 1886 will be a grand celebration with utility boats from all over the county and the country. The boats will be moored in Vågen, and there will be a regatta in the sea by the concert hall.

Engøyholmen Coastal Culture Centre is planning to recreate the national regatta that took place in Stavanger in 1868, which ended with a 16-course dinner!

The National Regatta was a folk festival organised in Stavanger in 1868, where different types of boats competed in sailing and rowing, where seaworthiness and how well the boat was built were also assessed.

The Coastal Culture Centre is planning a number of other projects in addition to recreating the regatta and the subsequent 16-course dinner. Courses will be given in traditional handwork with lime in the recently completed kiln at Natvigs Minde. The lime burned in the kiln will also be transported to the various medieval buildings in Stavanger, where residents and organisations will be able to participate in the maintenance of the buildings.
