Skaug is a songwriter, musician, and one of Norway’s bestselling poets. His texts are widely shared. His poetry collections “Følg med nå” (2019) and “Ikke slipp” (2020) have been printed in over 42,000 copies. Later collections, such as “Hjemmekamp” (2020), “Opprykk” (2021), “Dikt til navngitte menn” (2022), and “Jeg har venta sånn på deg” (2024), have been remarkable successes. In 2024, he also released the Christmas booklet “Seine natt”.
He was the vocalist in the band St Morritz since its founding in 2006, but went solo in 2012. Since then, he has released four solo albums, including “Stor gutt” (2024) and the Christmas album “Seine natt desember” (2024). In 2017, he was nominated for the Spellemann Prize for the album “Sanger du skal få når jeg dør”.
In spring 2021, he participated in the popular TV show Hver gang vi møtes on TV 2. Later that year, he was awarded the Bjørg Vik Prize for “... his ability to reach out, connect, and provide literary experiences for many with his poems. Through the use of new communication channels like Instagram and other social media, the awardee has brought new generations to read poetry.”
