TURI: The illustrator behind turi design
Discover the magic of Turi G. Oliver's timeless designs and rare objects in this summer's nostalgic exhibition at Holmeegenes.
Get tickets hereTuri Gramstad Oliver (b. 1938) has shaped Norwegian homes for generations. As a designer for Figgjo Fajanse from 1960 to 1980, she created a series of iconic tableware collections – Lotte, Daisy, Granada, Market, Maja, Saga, and Folklore are just a few. With playful illustrations, colourful motifs, and a unique visual language, her designs quickly became part of Norway’s cultural heritage. They remain just as beloved today as when they first appeared.
Turi’s designs are more than decoration – they tell stories. Her distinctive line blends the whimsical with the functional, resulting in tableware that not only adorns the table but also sparks memories and brings joy.
It’s no surprise that Turi designs are highly sought-after collectibles, both in Norway and internationally!
This exhibition takes you behind the scenes of Turi’s creative world. You’ll see original sketches, drafts, and rare pieces offering unique insight into her artistic process. You'll also get a glimpse of how her visual expression has extended into textiles, paper, and embroidery. Turi remains an active artist to this day.
The summer exhibition at Holmeegenes is developed by SAK design, by Goedele Teirlinck and Simon A. Kjær, and is on display during the museum’s opening hours, daily from 15 June to 15 August 2025.
