Vind i Gardhol

The great wave of folk song in Norway during the 1970s also made its mark in Hå – and quite successfully. The group Vind i gardhol created several songs that became sing-along favourites in Jæren.

Vind i gardhol released an album in 1981, featuring five Obrestad men: Jarle, Svein, Torstein, Hans, and Leif. Also part of the group were Sigmund Aanestad and Trond Gudmestad. The album still holds up today, and most people in Jæren know large parts of songs like Putlaa, Vind i gardhol, Kortspel, and Kjøb sandala. The lyrics were written by the group themselves, as well as contributions from Torvald Tu, Tobaias Skretting, Jon Line, Klaus Hagerup, and Hartvig Kiran.

Two of the most well-known songs are Putlaa and Kortspel. Putlaa is a text from 1892, author unknown. Kortspel was written by Leif Obrestad. The lyrics can be found here. You can listen to excerpts from the Vind i gardhol album on Rogalyd.

The concert will last just over an hour.

Doors open at 18:30.
Pizza and drinks available. Come early to get a good seat – first come, first served!

If travelling by train, Ogna Scene will collect audience members from Ogna Train Station at approx. 18:35 and 18:50 using its minibus service. Return transport after the concert at a reasonable time.

Note: Ogna Scene only has one vehicle – expect possible delays at the station if many arrive by train.

Walking from the station to Ogna Scene takes about 15 minutes.
