On 26 April 2025, Terje Winterstø Røthing begins a new musical chapter. Known from bands like Skambankt and Kaizers Orchestra, he now debuts as a solo artist under the name WINTERSTØ, and the debut concert will take place on his favourite stage, Folken in Stavanger. For over three years, Terje has been working on new material, a new band, and collaborations with various musical friends. Now, he's ready to share the results with the audience. WINTERSTØ continues the musical direction explored in Skambankt's latest albums, particularly 1994 and Jærtegn. The wall of distorted guitars has been replaced by richer instrumentation, an acoustic touch, and a greater focus on vocals. The soundscape is sonically rich and dynamic—at times grand, at times subdued. "In the last few years with Skambankt, we drifted away from the band's original foundation. I liked the evolution and even drove it forward, but it led to an identity challenge. Skambankt was originally a hard-hitting rock band—that's in the name—but suddenly, we had become something else. WINTERSTØ builds on that development, with new band members, fresh energy, and a clearer identity," says Terje. The debut album is nearing completion, and on 26 April, Terje and his band will give the audience an exclusive preview of new material and old favourites on Folken's stage. "Folken has always held a special place for me. Even as a young boy, I dreamed of playing on the coolest venue in town, but it took some years before that dream came true. Since then, I've both watched and performed some of my best concerts at Folken," says Terje.
