A varied bike tour from Madla past Lake Hålandsvatnet to the Tungenes lighthouse.
The bike ride to Tungeneset is through an open cultural landscape, long stone fences and rural surroundings. On the last third of the ride, you experience a fantastic view of the ocean. The path around lake Hålandsvatnet is an experience. Should you choose to return from Tungenes via the same route, you could follow the lake on the southside just for variation. There is a beautiful sandy beach in the heart of Vistevika and an even larger beach at Sande, just before Tungenes. There are several hiking trails, picnic benches and information posters out by Tungenes lighthouse. Here you can read more about the lighthouse's rich history.
Start: Intersection Ragbakken/National bike route 1, around 50 meters north of Revheimsveien at Madla.
Stop: Tungenes lighthouse.
Challenges: A couple of short, yet noticeable hills along Hålandsvatnet lake.
Car traffic: With the exception of a few hundred meters along Krossbergveien and 1,5 km along Goaveien (separate bike paths in both places), there is little or no traffic.
Bike type: All types except road bikes and the smallest kids' bikes with 12-inch wheels. To be able to manage the hills at lake Hålandsvatnet, you need a bike with gears.
Special considerations: The trail along Hålandsvatnet lake has a few turns with difficult views and you must be aware of hikers and show consideration.
