Figgjoelva (river Figgjo) runs through the community Figgjo all the way to Sele in Jæren. The river is popular for sport fishing and is one of Norway's 10-15 largest salmon rivers. It has a length of 42,2 km and a difference in height of 104 metres. The volume is 103 m³/s. Figgjo was in year 2000 the second largest salmon river in Rogaland when fishers captured in total 10,6 tons of salmon and 677 kilo of sea trout.
Queing up for fishing permits by the river!
There is an enormous interest for fishing in the Figgjo river, and a lot is already presold before the fishing season starts. The presale of the day permits for zones 1 and 2 in the lower part of Figgjo is extremely popular. Already a week prior to when the permits get sold on 1 May people will queue up by the river and stay in tents until they have managed to secure themselves day permits for the attractive zones.
The early salmon comes up in the river from 15 June, later on the Summer salmon arrives, and last the so called late Autumn salmon.
