Guided hike to Ramnstoknuten

After a scenic one-hour drive, Ramnstoknuten emerges as a captivating landmark for your hike.

After about a 60-minute drive from the meeting point in Stavanger, you arrive at the start of the hike. Firstly, your guide will check your equipment and make any necessary adjustments. Then you'll receive a short safety briefing with information about the trail, expected conditions and useful hiking tips before embarking on the day's exciting adventure!

The hike begins easily on a gravel road in beautiful surroundings along a lake. The road leads to an area with cottages making the area typically quiet and idyllic. After about 1.8 kilometres, the dirt road ends and you head out into the countryside and follow a path alongside beautiful lakes.

The terrain is occasionally humid, but no less charming, and you walk through the open and clear landscape until you reach a slope forest. You can take a breather to capture your surroundings in photos, which is completely understandable in this magical terrain!

The forest area can get hot in summer, especially when you reach the "bottom" and begin the ascent. Fortunately, you'll cross a small stream where you can fill your water bottle before continuing on the hilly terrain. The guide will take you on a short detour to visit an old bear cave from the time when bears roamed this area.

A few metres higher, followed by a descent, before embarking on a few more metres upwards! You're almost at the top! Ramnstoknuten now awaits - a well-shaped cairn marks the top of this mountain that you admired from the car earlier. What a view - towards the Høgsfjord in the north-west, and towards the Frafjord winding eastwards between the towering mountains! Take a break with food and drink while enjoying the view as you pat yourself on the back for having reached the top. After a good break, return along the same route, but if time permits and your legs are up to it, you'll have the opportunity to take more detours for even more memorable experiences.
