To ensure that you beat the crowds, you’ll get an early start to the morning. After picking you up, your guide will transport the group to the base of the hiking trail, where you’ll receive a short information/safety briefing. You’ll then embark on your hike to Preikestolen. Your guide will lead you up the trail through shifting terrain. Along the way, while passing lakes, forests, and bogs, you’ll stop at numerous vantage points, all of which offer great views of the surrounding mountains. During the hike, you’ll be given ample opportunities to snap photos and catch your breath.
After 2-3 hours of hiking, you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of some of the most dramatic scenery Fjord Norway has to offer. From atop the 604-meter-high cliff, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Lysefjord and its surrounding mountains. Your guide will serve you a warm drink and snack while allowing you time to enjoy a well-deserved break at the cliff’s edge. After the break, you’ll be lead up to an exclusive viewpoint that overlooks both Preikestolen and the Lysefjord. From there, the views of the Lysefjord and its surrounding mountains are nothing short of awe-inspiring. After another short break, your guide will lead you back down to the trail-head, which will take about 2 hours. After a few last breaths of crisp mountain air, you’ll return as a group to Stavanger.
This hike is moderately-demanding: in 5-6 hours, you’ll hike ~8 km (~5 miles) with a total ascent of just over 500 meters (1,640 feet). It is suitable for participants who are in general good physical condition & have previous hiking experience.
