At Eiganes we pass the Ledaal manor, now used as a residence for the Norwegian Royal family when visiting Stavanger. The first stop is Hafrsfjord and the Swords in Rock. These three big swords is a monument of a historical sea battle in 872 AD when the Viking King Harald Hairfair started the unification process of Norway. At the highest point in Stavanger, Ullandhaug, we can enjoy a splendid view of the entire Stavanger region.
Next stop is the reconstructed Iron Age Farm, dating back to 500 AD. Meet the lady of the house dressed in her beautiful clothes from this period. She will invite you into her house where you can feel the warmth from the original hearths and listen to her stories from her everyday life. Our next stop is at the Stavanger Cathedral. This medievel cathedral was built of stone in 1125 AD, and is one of the few cathedrals in Scandinavia that has kept its original design.
The tour ends with a walk through Old Stavanger. This is Europe's best preserved wooden house settlement, consisting of more than 170 white wooden houses.
Extra: The tour can be done without entrance to the Iron Age Farm.
