Hike to Dalsnuten

Dalsnuten: Popular peak by the Gandsfjord in Sandnes. Short and easy hike from Gramstad, suitable for the whole family all year round.

You have a fantastic view from the top of Dalsnuten (323 metres above sea level). Take your guests up there and show them Sandnes and Jæren.

The hike to Dalsnuten

The shortest way up to Dalsnuten is along a wide hiking trail, past Gramstadtjørn and through a small forest where Sandnes municipality has erected shelters. The walk continues between two stone fences, an old corridor where sheep and cows were led out to pasture in the old days.

Remains of an old farm and orchard

Take a detour up the hill to the left before continuing onwards. The fine stone walls here are the remains of the Revholen farm. The farm was inhabited until just after the war. The old orchard is still a sight to behold in spring. The trail continues along the pond Revholstjørn and up to the last steep bend where you climb a few metres before the top and then up to the top. It is possible to use prams and wheelchairs on the first part of the trail as this is a nice gravel road up to the pond Revholstjørn at 186 metres above sea level.

The trail from the pond Gramstadtjørn westwards towards the Gandsfjord

Many people follow the roundtrip starting at the pond Gramstadtjørna and heading west towards Gandsfjorden. Here you can see the remains of the Lundane homestead before turning north-east and heading up to the top. Then follow the above trail back.

Extend the hike via Øvre Eikeknuten

If you want to extend the hike, you can hike an extra loop via the summit Øvre Eikenknuten (the trail starts at the pond Gramstadtjørn). After reaching the summit, you can also follow the marked trail over the summit Fjogstadnuten.

Accommodation and café at Gramstad

Stavanger Trekking Association (STF) offers accommodation and a café at Gramstad. The house can be rented for accommodation and events. The café is in the barn and is open in the summer.
