Access: From Hauge i Dalane follow the FV33 towards Nesvåg. Turn right after about 1 km,and follow the gravel road 1 km to parking Jibbeheia. Duration: 2,5 hrs.

The walk up to Jibbeheia starts at a car park near a stream where beavers are active. The path goes up through coniferous trees that have been planted. Above the pine trees the deciduous trees are totally uncultivated. Fallen trees have lain where they fell. On the plateau there are relatively few trees, and vegetation is dominated by juniper bushes and heather.  The rock type is coarse-grained, massive anorthosite belonging to the Helleren body. There are many veins, up to about 10 cm thick, of quartz-bearing crystalline rock that is a kind of granite. The surface is strewn with rocks that were left behind by melting ice. These are called glacial erratics.

The size of the Helleren anorthosite body can be appreciated from the summit. It extends for ~4 km to the coast to the south (and continues beneath the sea), for at least 6 km to Rekefjord in the west and for ~19 km to the north. Anorthosite consists of >90% of the mineral plagioclase. The size of the individual plagioclase crystals can be gauged from looking at the rock beneath your feet. It is clear that there must be many thousands of millions of plagioclase crystals in the Helleren body!
