Norwegian petroleum museum – knowledge and experiences
The Norwegian Petroleum Museum is a museum for everyone. Its exhibitions show how offshore operations have become Norway's most important industry, and give you experiences of this activity. How oil and gas are formed, how resources beneath the seabed are found, and how drilling and production are conducted.
Exhibits present the technological advances made by this sector, and how oil revenues have affected Norwegian society. They also cover the big climate challenge posed by greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.

The eyewitnesses of the oil

The dinosaurs really have nothing to do with oil, but we can say they were eyewitnesses when the foundation for oil and gas was laid.

In the exhibition "The Eyes of the Oil", 15 moving dinosaurs can be experienced - and a real bone from a Plateosaurus! The exhibition lasts until the end of September.
Activities for children and adults
The museum has varied activities for children and adults, interactive installations and films. A film like you might not expect at this kind of museum – "Oilkid" is a movie about the industry; doubts and faith, growing up and relationships. Meetings and shop Auditorium and meeting rooms can be hired for conferences and meetings. The shop offers interesting gifts or a memento of your visit.
Safety measures
You are welcome to visit the museum if you are free of symptoms. Some parts of the exhibitions are closed or have limited access. Signage is in place throughout the museum to help guide you and maintain social distancing. We are paying particular attention to high-touch points and clean them often. Hand sanitiser stations are located throughout the museum, including at critical points such as entrances, exits and interactive experiences.  Please ensure you follow Government guidelines to keep yourself and others safe.
