Preikestolen (the Pulpit Rock) is one of the most famous attractions in Ryfylke. The plateau has such a majestic view that it has been named one of the world's most spectacular viewing points, both by Lonely Planet and CNN.
Preikestolen Express drives directly between the centre of Stavanger and Preikestolen Mountain Lodge, the starting point of the hiking trail. The bus has several daily departures and is the fastest way to get to and from the popular hike.
About the hike
The hike up to Preikestolen is challenging, and the trail has a total length of 8 kilometres. With the express bus, you have 5 hours at your disposal to complete the hike, which should be sufficient time for most people, including breaks.
Sherpas from Nepal have made an incredible effort to improve the trail, which is well-marked and goes through varied terrain. It is recommended to wear good mountain boots and bring a small backpack so that you are prepared for weather changes.
The return bus will pick you up at the same place it let you off at Preikestolen Fjellstue.
Tickets must be purchased on the website before boarding the bus. Tickets are not sold on the bus.
