Niels Shoe Meulman is a visual artist from Amsterdam, best known for his gestural paintings, which reveal vivid traces of graffiti and calligraphy. Beginning tagging in 1979, he soon became an established figure in the graffiti scene. Meulman is best known for his signature style called "Calligraffiti", a movement the artist launched in 2007 that can be described as abstract expressionism with a calligraphic origin.
