Experience cultural sites in Arendal on bicycle! The roundtrip moves from the town centre past old wooden houses, a gallery, and a very special cemetery.
Go eastwards along the streets Langbrygga and Kystveien. There is a bicycle path on the right side, at Fluet go on the right side of the tunnel. Follow the path up Havstadbakken towards Birkenlund. Take the street Gamle Songevei to the left before the road is turning, and follow the bicycle path past Barbu church to the roundabout by the railway station in Barbu, where there is a bicycle path on the left side of the street on your right , going up to the traffic lights and Langsæ water. Take a left in the traffic lights, and follow the path up the street. Take to the right by the blue sign (foot- and bicycle path Grimstad). Go past the casualty clinic at the hospital, and turn right in the next crossing, and then right again.
Follow the road up to the left towards Furukollen/Kirkegården [1]. The road goes up, then down, there is a bicycle path parts of the distance before the bridge. By the car park, the entrance to the Arendal kirkegård (cemetery) is visible, a unique and beautiful attraction. Please visit before following the path in the woods on the left side before the entrance to the cemetery, over to the road Gårdsveien and to the left down to Frolandsveien.
Follow the road about 150 metres past the stadium, before making a right by the bakery at Bjønnesveien towards the woods Åsbieskogen. At the end of the stadium, take the lowest road on your right; follow this until you get to the field. Stay on the left side along the field on the forest road, straight ahead on the road Egelundveien, to the left in the crossing, until you get to the Maxis shopping centre by classified road no. 420 west of Arendal. There is a foot- and bicycle path on the right side until you get to the hill down to Strømsbubukt, take this down to the harbour, and ride your bike along the water’s edge all the way into Arendal. In the part of town called Tyholmen, you pass old Arendal town hall in Rådhusgaten, and Kløckers hus – Arendal town museum in NedreTyholmsvei.
