Arendal library

Arendal Library is serving all inhabitants with free library and information services. The library offers to lend books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, music, movies, CD-ROM, computers (Internet, word processing and search in database), microfilm machine and photocopier.

The library has also many books in other languages than Norwegian.

Arendal Library has about 200 000 items (books, audiobooks, videos etc) to lend, and every year there are about 280 000 loans, of which about 50 000 are videos. The library has about 300 000 visits a year. There are 14 PCs to loan now, 11 with Internet access, 1 for word processing, 2 for searching in database. There are about 120 events scheduled in the building each year, and the library cooperates with other Norwegian libraries regarding lending books.

The library is located by the Arendal market square. The building's architectural style is adapted to the other buildings in the area. The interior of the library is an open and dramatic room. There is a shielded area where you can read newspapers and magazines. The children have their own cave under this area, in connection with the library's children's department.
