Sykkeltur forbi Rævesand

Tromøy – the largest island in Southern Norway – offers some of Arendal's most beautiful cycling experiences.

Your trip begins easily with the ferry from Tyholmen in Arendal city centre to Skilsø. From there, follow the road along the water towards Rævesand, where in summer you can take a short ferry trip out to Merdø – an idyllic, car-free island.

From Rævesand, continue towards Hove, a popular area for both families and outdoor enthusiasts. Here you’ll find beaches, a climbing park, playgrounds and summer cafés. Make sure to take a small detour down to Spornes, where the pebble beach and open horizon offer the true coastal atmosphere of Southern Norway – in every season.

Further east, you’ll pass Bjellandstrand Gård, known for its beautiful rose garden and summer café. The route continues through green forest landscapes towards Hastensund, before following the road along Tromøysund back towards the Tromøy Bridge.

You can either cross the bridge and cycle back to Arendal city centre, or continue past Færvik and take the ferry from Skilsø back to town. Both routes offer stunning scenery and that distinctive southern Norway charm on two wheels.

This is a trip that suits families, couples and experienced cyclists alike – with plenty of opportunities for breaks, swimming stops and small discoveries along the way.
